Severe weather warning issued for parts of our neighborhoods

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued this afternoon for Clinton and Eaton counties, as well as several counties to our west in Michigan. This watch is currently in effect until 8:00 p.m. this evening as we monitor developing thunderstorms.

The main impacts to watch for this evening are isolated damaging winds and isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. We also cannot rule out a possible tornado in the state of Michigan this afternoon/evening.

The warm, moist air we're dealing with today will favor these storms, as we're still under a heat warning and air temperatures are expected to be in the high 30s today, with heat indices in the triple digits. This heat warning is in effect until 10 p.m. tonight, as we'll be dealing with the worst of the heat and storms this afternoon and into the evening.
