Parents charged with child abuse in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Kentucky – Two parents are facing child abuse charges in Simpson County in connection with a 12-week-old child.

Jeremy Glen Gosnell, 35, of Franklin, and Tabitha Nicole Wood, 33, of Franklin, were arrested Monday on child abuse charges.

According to charging documents obtained by News 40, on or about March 6-7, Gosnell and Wood “knowingly and unlawfully committed the offense of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 years of age or under” when they “intentionally abused” their 12-week-old child.

According to court documents, the child had to be taken to TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

In addition, the indictment states that the infant had numerous bruises on his face, forehead and right cheek, a cut above his left eye, a cut on his scalp and a total of seven broken ribs.

Gosnell and Wood are charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12, first-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. Gosnell is additionally charged with repeat felony I offense.

Both remain in the Simpson County Detention Center.
