Batesburg man charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after 9-hour attack

A Batesburg man has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly locked a victim in a house for nine hours and severely abused her.

According to Lexington County officials, 29-year-old Jerry William Hall Jr. is accused of kicking the victim with steel-toed boots, punching him multiple times and blocking his airway until he lost consciousness.

“On Thursday evening, officers were dispatched to a home on Bayonet Road after a neighbor called 911,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.
“They found the victim severely abused in the forest.”

Investigators also allege that Hall threatened to kill other witnesses who entered the property.

According to the warrants, Hall is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes and possession of methamphetamine.

He is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center after a justice of the peace denied his bail.
