Converse man arrested for sex crimes against children in Sabine Parish

SABINE PARISH, Louisiana (KSLA) – The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Converse man accused of sex crimes against children.

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell says Jerry Bryant Vines Jr., 60, was arrested on August 16 for sexual abuse. The investigation into Vines began on August 6. The sheriff's office says Vines touched his 11-year-old victim in a sexual manner.

CRIME IN THE ARKLATEX

After Vines' arrest, according to the sheriff's office, more victims came forward and told of sexual abuse over the past 25 years. The victims' ages at the time of the abuse ranged from 5 to 13 years.

Vines was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

  • sexual harassment
  • First degree rape of a child under 13 years of age (6 cases)
  • Oral sexual abuse of a child under 15 years of age
  • indecent behavior towards minors

At the time of publication of this article, no bond has been set.
