Sex offender convicted of attempted sexual assault of a child moves to new address in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – A sex offender convicted of multiple crimes against children is living at a new address in Colorado Springs.

In accordance with state law, city police announced Tuesday that Shane Poteet, 35, will be living on Edith Lane, a neighborhood northeast of Circle and Palmer Park Boulevard.

Poteet was convicted in 2016 of attempted sexual assault of a child and attempted sexual exploitation of a child online in 2010. Both crimes were committed in Prowers County.

Poteet is a white man, 6' tall and 200 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He has several tattoos.

Including Poteet, there are currently 22 sex offenders registered with the Colorado Springs Police Department and living in the city. Click here to view the list.
