Wrong-way driving crash on Route 33 in Monroe County kills Hamilton Twp woman

The victim of a wrong-way driving accident on Route 33 in Hamilton Township that occurred over the weekend has been identified.

According to Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac, 68-year-old Louisa Gonzalez-Hayes of Hamilton Township died as a result of the collision Saturday evening.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Gonzalez-Hayes was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Route 33 when she struck another vehicle at mile marker 27.7. Her car came to rest in the median and the other vehicle came to rest upside down on the right shoulder.

Gonzalez-Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene and her dog also died in the accident. There was no one else in Gonzalez-Hayes' car.

The occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.
