Plymouth Township police are increasing patrols after three incidents ranging from car thefts to attempted carjackings in the Ridge, Butler and North Lane areas

The Plymouth Township Police Department announced on August 27 that it was increasing patrols due to a series of incidents between Wednesday, August 21 and Saturday, August 24. According to the statement, the department was investigating an attempted armed robbery of a motor vehicle, a
attempted robbery/carjacking of a high-value vehicle, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, and thefts from motor vehicles in the areas between Ridge Pike, Butler Pike, and North Lane in the township.

Investigators found that “each incident involved a group of suspects.” In two of the incidents, the suspects fled from police on foot and in a vehicle. In another incident, two juveniles were arrested on outstanding warrants for robbery and auto theft, and a stolen, loaded firearm was recovered.

Police are asking anyone with additional information or surveillance video of suspicious activity during this time period to contact the Plymouth Township Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 610-279-1901 or via email at [email protected].

There was a false report on social media from a citizen that a “burglary” had occurred in the Taylor Road area of Conshohocken (Whitemarsh Township), which is very close to the area where the above incidents occurred.

Plymouth Township Police have increased patrols in the neighborhoods and
surrounding areas. The department encourages you to call 911 to report any suspicious activity, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

Police ask the public to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions to secure vehicles
and property:

  • Lock your car and the doors and windows of your home.
  • Do not leave your keys in the vehicle, including valet parking keys.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle. Simply putting them in the trunk is not enough. Take them inside with you.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, not only when walking but also when driving.
  • Outdoor lighting on residential buildings helps deter crime.
  • Ensure that monitoring and alarm systems are functioning and recording properly.
  • If you don't have a surveillance system, you should consider installing one.
  • If you are going away, contact the police and deregister. Officers will check your residence while you are away.
  • If you see something, say something. Call 911 and report suspicious activity.
