The SIT will also prepare a psychological profile of the accused to support the case.

The sexual assault of two fourth-graders at a school in Badlapur in the state of Maharashtra sparked nationwide outrage and police arrested a school employee for child abuse.

An education official from Thane on Tuesday approached the Bombay High Court seeking a stay of his suspension order over the alleged sexual abuse of two girls at a school in Badlapur, alleging that the government order was “politically motivated” and that he had been made a “scapegoat”.

The officer, Balasaheb Rakshe, urged the Supreme Court to stay the suspension order pending the final hearing of his petition before the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT), which denied him an interim order on August 26. He urged the Supreme Court to restrain the state government from appointing any other officer to the post.

Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar has stated that the CCTV footage of the last 15 days is missing from the school in Badlapur where two minor girls were allegedly sexually abused. Kesarkar said, “The CCTV footage of the last 15 days is missing from the school. It is important to investigate why the footage has gone missing and what is the motive behind it.”

The minister also suggested that panic buttons should be installed in schools and educational institutions, just like CCTVs. “Just like CCTVs, panic buttons can be installed… Panic buttons can be installed in hostels too. This is an advanced technology,” Kesarkar said at a press conference in Mumbai.

A report prepared by the Women and Child Welfare Ministry and the Education Ministry on the Badlapur sexual abuse case was handed over to Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar on Monday.
