MP Mukesh has refuted allegations of sexual harassment made against him by actress Minu Muneer, calling them a “blackmail tactic”.

In a statement released on Tuesday (27 August 2024), the actor-turned-politician said he met Ms Muneer in 2009 when she contacted him by phone and introduced herself as an aspiring actress.

“Later, she came to my house with a photo album and asked me for help in finding opportunities. I replied that I will try and she later sent me a message praising my decent behavior during the meeting. At no point during that time did she point out any flaws in my behavior or express her displeasure,” he said.

M Mukesh added that he had no contact with her for a long time after that. “In 2022, the same woman called me again and this time introduced herself as Meenu Muneer. She asked me for a huge financial help. When I expressed my helplessness, she demanded at least Rs 100,000. She sent me a WhatsApp message demanding that amount. In another message, this woman informed me that people from a particular community had been asked to intervene in the matter after I failed to pay. A few days later, another person, claiming to be her husband, called me and demanded a huge amount. This gang, which was constantly blackmailing me for money, has now turned against me when they got the chance. I am saying this based on evidence and messages they sent me.”

Mr Mukesh added that he was not ready to give in to blackmail tactics and would take legal action.
