Man killed, child seriously injured in shooting on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man died and a child was seriously injured in a shooting inside a car at a shopping center on the corner of 75th Street and Shadeland Avenue in Northeast Indiana on Monday night, Indianapolis police reported.

Paramedics and IMPD were called to a retail store in the 7400 block of North Shadeland Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The shooting occurred at the Shadeland Station Shopping Center.

Sergeant William Young, an IMPD spokesman, says few details can be released and investigators are working to confirm the cause of the shooting.

Witnesses at the scene said the shooting was preceded by a fight, but police could not confirm those reports.

Police did not provide any information about a wanted suspect.
