Single-vehicle accident claims one life in Colleton County

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred just outside of Walterboro.

According to police, the accident occurred on Monday shortly after 8:20 p.m.

A 2021 Toyota Sedan was traveling south on Jefferies Highway near Longleaf Drive, about a half-mile north of Walterboro, when it left the right side of the road, re-entered the road, then left the left side of the road and struck a utility pole and then a tree.

The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident at the scene.

The Colleton County Coroner has not yet released the victim's name.
