Man on moped in hospital after hit-and-run accident with semi-trailer in Laurel: Police

LAUREL, Maryland. – Maryland State Police are searching for a tractor-trailer driver who struck a man on a moped and fled the scene early this morning in Prince George's County.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. Tuesday on MD-198 eastbound at Interstate 95 when the moped was struck by the semi-truck. The truck driver fled the scene, police said.

The moped driver was taken to the hospital. His condition remains unknown. All lanes of MD-198 are closed, including the exit ramps from I-95 to MD-198 eastbound.

Police are currently conducting an intensive search for the tractor-trailer involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact Maryland State Police.
