Brendan Fevola receives unexpected diagnosis of “high stress” after heart attack

Brendan 'Fev' Fevola has revealed a shocking health diagnosis on air.

In today’s episode of The Foxes Fifi, Fev and Nick On today's breakfast show, Fevola admitted that he is recovering from a horrific heart attack he suffered during the 1000-step run in Dandenong.

The radio host reported that his heart rate had dropped from 120 BPM to 63 BPM compared to his normal resting heart rate.

Fortunately, Fevola sought medical help after noticing the change in her heart rate and underwent several tests.

“Yesterday I went for a health check. I think it is important for everyone to have a health check, but especially for men over 40,” he said.

“I then say, 'Oh, my heart hurts, it will pass,' and that's what we think mentally because we are stupid people.

“I did the 1000 steps the other day and I had this heart app on my phone. When I got halfway through, I couldn't breathe anymore.

“When I got home, I told Alex [Fevola’s wife]. She said: “Well, do it now,” I sat on my deck chair and was like 120 [BPM] I just sat there for two hours. I made an appointment with the doctor yesterday and said: “I want everything, blood tests, EKG, give me everything.”

“So yesterday I was done, I did an EKG test which checks for heart attacks and everything; it was normal, which was good. Got all the results right away.

“The other tests included diabetes, cholesterol, prostate, iron, kidney, I got liver. That's what I was worried about… my liver. Everything is back to normal.”

To the shock of his co-hosts, Fevola announced his diagnosis: high levels of stress, which contradicted his on-air personality as a relaxed, sports-watching, family-oriented person.

Fevola said he hopes his experience can encourage men over 40 to take their heart health seriously and talk to a doctor about potential risks to their well-being.

“I thought, my goodness, I've had a couple of friends who've had heart attacks. I've had two friends who've died who were my age and just dropped out of nowhere.”
