One dead in nighttime accident on Fisher Ferry

One person was killed in a single-vehicle transportation accident on Fisher Ferry in Claiborne County near the Warren County border and another was flown by helicopter to Hattiesburg.

Just after 2 a.m., an accident was reported near 13680 Fisher Ferry. Warren County Sheriff's officers and Warren County firefighters responded to the call. They drove to the county line and saw nothing. They continued on Fisher Ferry and about a mile and a half into Claiborne County, where they found a single vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

“The vehicle left the road and struck a tree on the passenger side,” said Sheriff Goods. “A 22-year-old woman died at the scene and the male driver was flown by helicopter to Hattiesburg and is in critical condition.”

The UMMC in Jackson had no beds available and would not admit anyone.

The Vicksburg Daily News is withholding vehicle information and the names of parties involved in the fatal crash until the entire family has been notified.
