Hyderabad: A woman's body was found under mysterious circumstances in Dundigal, barely 35 km from Hyderabad, Telangana. Three days later, on Monday, Dundigal police arrested a man who allegedly suffocated the woman. It was found that the accused had started a fight over his missing mobile charger, which he thought was stolen. The accused was caught on video running away after committing the crime. Further investigations are underway in the matter.

DCP, Medchal Zone, N Koti Reddy said 37-year-old Ravula Kamal Kumar suffocated the victim, identified as J Shanthi, on August 24 after a heated argument broke out between the two over the missing charger. Police suspect that Kamal was adamant that Shanti had stolen it and hence he went to her a couple of times to confront her before killing her.

Shanti used to run a small shop near Kamal's workshop. On August 21, when he could not find his charger, he went to Shanti and argued over the missing charger. Three days later, he again went to Shanti and started a verbal argument. The missing charger remained the most pressing issue between the two, reported Times of India.

During this time, the argument turned violent and the accused pushed her in a fit of revenge. The woman fell down and suffered a head injury. As she was fainting in pain, the accused covered her mouth and nose until the woman died. “The accused was caught on CCTV cameras trying to run away. Based on this, Kumar was arrested,” said a police official quoted in the media report.

He was arrested from Gagillapur village in Quthbullapur mandal. A native of Warangal, he was produced before a court which directed the police to remand him in judicial custody.
