Against the backdrop of the gruesome rape and murder case of a doctor-student in Kolkata, the incident sparked protests in Ratnagiri.

Nurses and hospital staff protested the incident outside the hospital where the victim is being held, chanting slogans demanding justice for her and demanding the death penalty for those involved in the crime.

The protests escalated further when hospital staff and nurses, along with other people, took to the streets in Ratnagiri, blocking and bringing traffic to a standstill.

The police have now registered the case and launched an investigation. India today reported.

This comes at a time when the nation is protesting against the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor-in-training at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata and the sexual abuse of two minor girls at a kindergarten in Thane, raising concerns about the safety of women in the country.

This incident is another stark reminder to discuss the safety of women in the country, and many are calling for the death penalty for those responsible.
