A man is dead; his best friend is in custody in New Boston, Texas

NEW BOSTON, Texas (KSLA) — A 21-year-old man is dead and his best friend has reportedly confessed to killing him.

The fatal shooting in New Boston, Texas, occurred on Monday (September 23) around 3:30 p.m.

The name of the man killed has not yet been released.

Police said when officers arrived at an apartment, Javier Vega came out and allegedly admitted to shooting his best friend, then surrendered to police custody.

Vega reportedly told police that he had been arguing with his best friend since graduating from college in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

According to Vega, the heated argument continued on the way back to her apartment in New Boston, where the situation escalated.
