Police seek information on Friday's stabbing near Santa Maria High | Crime and Courts

Police responded to the report at 1:38 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Park Avenue.

After investigation, it was determined that a stabbing had occurred during an altercation with a group of teenagers. A 15-year-old boy suffered stab wounds and returned to Santa Maria High School.

The victim was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center, where police say he is in stable condition.

The SMPD Criminal Investigation Bureau has taken over the investigation and reports that this is likely an isolated incident and there is no ongoing danger to the public.

Because the investigation is very active, only limited details can be released.

The department works closely with the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District and Santa Maria High School to ensure the safety of students and staff.
