ZDF censors Rea Garvey’s appearance in “Giovanni Zarrella Show”

On its website, the broadcaster explains: “With regard to advertising broadcasts by ARD and ZDF, the following framework conditions are set out in the state treaty: A maximum of 20 minutes of advertising may be broadcast on working days. After 8 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays, ARD and ZDF are generally prohibited from broadcasting advertising.”

Something similar happened in November 2022 during Vanessa Mai's appearance on the “Giovanni Zarrella Show.” At that time, the brand on her hoodie was pixelated. A station spokeswoman explained this with the words: “Because of the brand name.”

In addition to Garvey, Giovanni Zarrella, Italian superstar Gianna Nannini, Finnish rock star Samu Haber, US singer Ray Dalton and the ensemble of the musical “& Julia” will also be performing.

Unlike last time, the show is not live, but was “recorded in Offenburg in May for planning reasons,” as ZDF announced.
