Mick Jagger's girlfriend rejects criticism of their 44-year age difference.

Melanie Hamrick, 37, spoke to the Sunday Times about her relationship with the 81-year-old Rolling Stones rocker, with whom she has a child.

“I don't think about it,” she said of the age difference. “Everyone has their own opinion. When you think about other people's opinions, no matter where you are in life, you have a problem and you have to analyze it.”

She added: “I have blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”

Hamrick is an author and former ballerina who published her debut novel, First Position, last year. She and Jagger have been together since 2014, meeting at a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo. Hamrick, who was 26 at the time, told the Sunday Times she was not exactly starstruck when they met.

“Ballet dancers meet some of the biggest stars and act like they're asking, 'Who are you?'” she said. “Because to us, ballet dancers are the gods. They're the ones you study and look up to. You're so in your own world.”

In 2016, Jagger and Hamrick had their first child together, a son named Deveraux. “I love my baby Deveraux Jagger so much 💙,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

Hamrick retired from American Ballet Theatre in 2019. “The ABT schedule is great, but it's hard when you have a kid and the life I lead now,” she told The New York Times. “Some days I feel like superwoman, and other days I feel like my head is just above water because I'm just there as a dancer – I come to rehearsal and I'm not at my best. It's not fair. I love it. But sometimes my head is not there. And I've done enough 'Swan Lake.' It's OK.”

Last year, Hamrick said on the “Today” show that she and Jagger were “very supportive of each other in their endeavors and their work,” adding that she was “not just someone's partner.”

Jagger was in a relationship with fashion designer L'Wren Scott from 2001 until her suicide in 2014. He has seven other children from previous relationships.
