49-year-old New Jersey man charged with sexual abuse of a child

A Bergen County man was arrested Friday and charged with sexually abusing a child under 13 in Cliffside Park, authorities said.

Daniel E. Lauture, 49, of Cliffside Park was charged after police contacted the Bergen County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Unit.

“An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Cliffside Park Police found that (Lauture) engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 in Cliffside Park,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a press release.

Lauture was arrested in Cliffside Park and charged with sexual assault by sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, both second-degree felonies. He was held in the Bergen County Jail pending his trial.

Information about Lauture's lawyer was not immediately available Monday morning.
