Warwick Police investigated the report of the stabbing and ultimately arrested the alleged stabbing victim.

On September 21 at 5:27 p.m., Warwick police responded to 1 Willow Glen Circle for a “report of a stabbing,” according to a press release.

“Officers found the resident, Anna Pereira, 32 years old, with superficial wounds on her arms and legs,” police said.

A 48-year-old man was also found at the crime scene. He was arrested and briefly questioned, police said.

The man was “also injured during the disturbance and sustained edema to his head and other injuries from being struck with a baseball bat and other objects,” police said. “He refused medical attention from Warwick Fire EMS at the scene.”

Pereira was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of her injuries and later released into police custody.

“The investigation determined that Ms. Pereira's injuries were self-inflicted,” police wrote in the Sept. 21 press release. “She is being held on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct and will be subject to a special hearing.”
