Wu Kang-ren reveals a new side of his talent as he strips off everything in an erotic drama The Chronicles of the Libidoists. Wu plays one of four lonely souls in modern-day Taipei who search for meaning in life through extreme sex.

The film caused considerable controversy due to its numerous nudity and explicit sex scenes, but was a box office success in Taiwan.

Screenwriter and director Yang Ya-che, who previously directed the acclaimed GF*BF (2012) and The brave, the corrupt and the beautiful (2017) appears to aim for more than just arousal.

His script is full of allegory and symbolism and alludes to philosophical questions about love, life and identity; his protagonists hope to find happiness or perhaps enlightenment through torture.

Wu, the star of Abang Adik And Fly with me to the moonplays Single Pa, a writer who has failed to capitalize on the success of his anonymously written debut novel. His family has fallen apart because of his numerous womanizing, and he is estranged from his teenage daughter, who is now studying abroad.
