One dead in dozens of Israeli attacks on Lebanon: official media

The official national news agency (NNA) said “enemy warplanes have carried out more than 80 airstrikes on the southern Lebanese district of Nabatiyeh within half an hour.” It also reported attacks in the Tyre area.

At the same time, the NNA reported “intense attacks in the Bekaa Valley” in the east, deep inside Lebanon near the Syrian border, including near Baalbek and on the outskirts of Hermel.

The NNA said the attacks in the east killed a “civilian,” a shepherd, and injured “two members of his family” and four others.

AFP correspondents in the south and east reported the sound of heavy attacks.

A Hezbollah source who wished to remain anonymous said the attacks in the Bekaa Valley targeted the area from east to west.

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said: “We advise civilians from Lebanese villages located in or near buildings and areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes, such as those used to store weapons, to immediately leave the danger zone for their own safety.”

Hagari said in a press conference that the Israeli military would carry out “large-scale and precise attacks against terror targets scattered throughout Lebanon.”

Since the attack by the Palestinian militia on October 7 triggered the Gaza war, Hezbollah has been engaging in almost daily cross-border shelling with Israeli forces in support of Hamas.

Violence has increased dramatically in recent days, and heavy shelling between Israel and Hezbollah occurred over the weekend, fuelling fears of an all-out war.
