Tragic last words of 15-year-old teenager stabbed to death during Woolwich Street brawl

A teenager who was tragically stabbed to death after a street brawl in south-east London screamed as he lay bleeding, “I'm 15, don't let me die,” a witness said.

The student died at the scene after being found with stab wounds on Eglinton Road in Woolwich at around 6.35pm on Sunday.

A 43-year-old woman who has lived in the area for 14 years described how she desperately tried to save the teenager as he lay bleeding on the street outside her apartment.

The witness, who heard screams from across the street saying “someone had been stabbed,” said she ran outside and found the boy lying face down on the ground.

She told The Telegraph as she stood behind the police cordon: “I turned him over, he had a gaping wound on his head and I thought, 'That's not bleeding enough.'”

“His leg was moving and there was a huge pool of blood, so I just stopped the bleeding until the paramedics arrived.

“I asked if I could take a shower because I was covered in his blood and they said yes, so I went in and took a shower.”

“I came out again and she [the police] called me over because I was the last one there – he said to me, “I'm 15, I'm 15, don't let me die,” and I said to him, “You're not going to die, buddy.”

The boy's next of kin have been informed and the crime scene is still on site.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called to a disturbance on Eglinton Road, SE18, at around 6.35pm on Sunday 22 September.”

“Officers arrived and found a teenager with a stab wound. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics on scene, he unfortunately died a short time later.

“His next of kin have been informed. The crime scene is still visible. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”
