Murder charge after stabbing in Bristol Stapleton Road

A man has been charged with murder after being stabbed in the street.

Shakawan Siddiqi, 32, is accused of killing Kunta Ceesay, 25, who died on Friday from injuries sustained in the attack on Stapleton Road in Bristol.

Preliminary results of an autopsy revealed that Mr Ceesay suffered a stab wound to the chest.

Mr Siddiqi, of Wade Street, St Paul's, was remanded in custody and will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court later.

Two women, aged 36 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime and have since been released pending investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police said Mr Ceesay's family were being supported by a specially trained officer and would be kept updated on the progress of the investigation.
