The businessman was travelling from Tharaka Nithi to Nairobi when an alleged drunk driver lost control, crossed into his lane and collided with his vehicle.

After the accident, the driver reportedly fled the scene and abandoned his car.

Kebaso suspects that the driver's actions suggest a hidden agenda, especially given his recent efforts to investigate stalled government projects despite significant funding being available to complete them. He now claims he feels his life is in danger after narrowly escaping death.

“I've flown close to the sun, but I'm alive for a reason. Now I know I'm following a clock,” he said.

Has Morara's death ever been threatened?

Weeks earlier, Kebaso had reported seeing an unregistered double-cab truck parked in front of his house in the early hours of the Nane Nane march.

He did not know who the vehicle was, which only added to his unease. Since taking on the task of holding the government to account, his family has become increasingly fearful for his safety, he says.
