2 medical students drown, 1 goes missing at Jalatarangini Falls on Andhra-Malkangiri border

In a tragic incident, two medical students of Eluru Asram Medical College in Andhra Pradesh drowned while another went missing while taking photographs at Jalatarangini Falls in Alluri Sitarama Raju district on the Andhra-Malkangiri border.

Meanwhile, three other doctors were rescued by the police and taken to the local hospital. According to sources, the doctors from Eluru Asram Medical College had gone to the falls as part of a picnic.

At least 14 medical students were at the falls when the incident occurred. The five students were taking photos near the falls when they were swept away by the flood.

According to reports, police with the help of locals managed to rescue two of them, one is missing and two others are stranded in a ditch.

The two bodies were recovered and sent for autopsy while NDRF teams were tasked with conducting search operations in the falls to find the missing person.

The waterfall is located in a dense forest area and is heavily flooded due to the incessant rains. Police have registered a case and investigation is on, reports said.
