Can a former Minnesota Gopher and Florida Gator steal the show from the Los Angeles Rams?

One game does not make a star, but don't tell that to current Los Angeles Rams wide receivers, former Florida Gator Demarcus Robinson or former Minnesota Gopher Tyler Johnson.

The workload of young wide receivers may have reached new heights this season, raising questions. What lies ahead for the Rams' receivers and where will they come from?

Here's a look at everything surrounding Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson and how their seasons are shaping up despite a lot of uncertainty in the receiver room.

According to Pro Football Reference, Robinson has already seen plenty of NFL experience. Robinson, who turns 30 this month, was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida, making him a bigger NFL veteran in terms of annual experience than Patrick Mahomes, who was drafted by the Chiefs in 2017.

Robinson spent the majority of his career with the Chiefs and left after the 2021 season. After spending one season with the Ravens in 2022, Robinson was signed by the Rams in 2023.

How will Demarcus Robinson fit into the offense in 2024?

Demarcus Robinson's improvement in performance is directly linked to Puka Nacua's injury. It was only after the wide receiver's injury that he came into the spotlight. Given Robinson's relatively advanced age, Nacua's position on the team seems secure in the long term. However, until Nacua returns in up to seven weeks, Robinson will serve as the number one receiver.

When Nacua returns, Robinson will likely return to the third spot in the order, but if Robinson can hold up over the next few weeks in the same role he played in Week 1, the Rams should be in a good position next month.

As a receiver who has never rushed for 500 yards in a single season, Robinson's production potential seems lower than that of Nacua or Kupp, so don't expect him to set the world on fire, but if he has a few more flashes left in him come September, it would be a great time for Los Angeles to do so.

Since Cooper Kupp is also out for the foreseeable future, there can only be further opportunities for Robinson.

Where did Tyler Johnson come from?

Tyler Johnson, like Demarcus Robinson, has also seen plenty of NFL action after being drafted out of the University of Minnesota. The wide receiver played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans before joining the Rams in 2023. Like Robinson, Johnson was fairly low-profile, technically recording eight yards in one game in 2023.

Johnson's best season was 2021, when he rushed for 360 yards with Tom Brady, but his finest season may have been his rookie year in 2020, when he won a ring with the Buccaneers.

How will Tyler Johnson fit into the offense in 2024?

After two games, Johnson has 99 rushing yards, putting him on pace to have his best season in the NFL. His uptick in performance also appears to be tied to Puka Nacua's injury. When Nacua and Kupp return, Johnson will likely drop to fourth in the rankings.

Until then, however, he is likely to play a lot in the next few games. In short, Johnson has the chance to become a household name this season if he takes the chance.

Even if Sean McVay focuses heavily on the running game over the next few games, Stafford will have to throw the ball at some point, which plays right into Johnson's hands. Robinson will likely get a lot more attention from the defense, creating opportunities for Johnson and his skills.
