Eagles fans want to fire Nick Sirianni after bizarre calls

In a close game on Sunday between the Eagles and the Saints, the Eagles left a lot of points on the field due to some of their decisions on fourth down. On two consecutive possessions before halftime, Nick Sirianni decided to go all out on fourth down instead of taking the three points.

Both times, the Eagles failed to make the first attempt and the Eagles fans let him get away with it.

“Nick Sirianni just does a cartwheel on every fourth attempt and then just does what he says,” commented one fan on X, formerly Twitter. Another added, “Nick Siranni's misconduct as a coach is clear to see. He tried twice on the fourth attempt in FG range but couldn't get a hit. I'm all for being aggressive but just take the points!!”

The decision on the first fourth down was particularly puzzling. With 14 seconds left in the first half and the Eagles facing a fourth-and-1 at the New Orleans 15-yard line, Sirianni decided to run with Saquon Barkley rather than simply go for the three-pointer. But even if Barkley had gone for the first and been tackled, the Eagles probably would have had to kick a field goal anyway.

There is good news for Sirianni. His Eagles made a late comeback in New Orleans and took the lead with a minute to go thanks to a Barkley touchdown. Reed Blankenship intercepted Derek Carr on the ensuing drive and the Eagles came away victorious despite the missed opportunities.

The win puts the Eagles at 2-1, and they should be 3-0 had Barkley not collapsed on third down in Week 2 against the Falcons. Despite the bad vibes early in the year regarding defense, coaching decisions, AJ Brown's injury, and Jalen Hurts' inconsistent play, Philadelphia is still in a good position in the NFC East.
