I streamed Civil War on Max and one complaint I heard about the film might actually be its greatest strength

At first I missed Civil War when it was in theaters, and honestly, I wasn't sure I even wanted to see it. The United States has been in tense political times for years, and I see so much of it on a daily basis, that I wasn't sure I was ready for Alex Garland's film. That changed when I had a free afternoon, and after watching it with my Max subscription, I have to disagree with one of the biggest complaints I've heard from those who didn't like it.

Sarah El-Mahmoud from CinemaBlend called Civil War one of her favorite films of 2024, and I have to agree with both her and our own Mike Reyes, who gave it his Civil War Review. That said, I've read more than a few reviews online that are upset that the details of the conflict that divided the country aren't explored in greater detail. Some people want the grim details for various reasons, and I'd like to say here that the film is stronger and more timeless for not focusing on that.
