Police investigate attack involving two groups in Uptown Waterloo

Two people were hospitalized following an attack in Waterloo.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, officers found an unconscious man lying in the street in the area of ​​Bridgeport Road East and Peppler Street around 2:10 a.m. Sunday.

While caring for the victim, officers found a second victim nearby, police said.

Police determined that a verbal argument broke out between two groups of people at a store on the corner of King and Erb Streets at around 2 a.m.

“The individuals involved began walking along Bridgeport Road East toward Peppler Street when the altercation turned physical. The two victims were then attacked by the group of unknown individuals,” police said in a press release.

The victims, a 27-year-old and a 26-year-old man, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
