Mariners vs Rangers: Predictions, Tips, Odds – 9-22

Bryan Woo has pitched well and the Texas Rangers are reeling. Support the Mariners to continue their playoff push this Sunday in Arlington.

The Seattle Mariners currently have a 7-3 record and are climbing the standings, currently just 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League.

My predictions for the Mariners vs. Rangers are for them to pick up another decisive win against a divisional opponent that has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Let’s dive deeper with my MLB picks for Sunday, September 22nd.

Prediction for Mariners vs. Rangers

My best bet
Mariners moneyline (-130 at Pinnacle)

My analysis

For the Seattle Mariners, every game is a matter of life and death right now. Given the situation, there is no better player than Bryan Woo.

He has pitched exceptionally well all season, with a 2.86 ERA and an almost shockingly low 0.88 WHIP. Those are insanely low numbers, especially considering he just allowed seven runs in less than five innings against the New York Yankees.

I'm excited about his chances to bounce back against the Texas Rangers. They don't have Corey Seager or playoff hopes – and their recent numbers reflect that.

The Rangers have only posted a .214 batting average against right-handed pitchers over the past two weeks, which ranks ahead of only four teams in the entire league. They also rank 25th in xwOBA against righties during that time. They probably won't have a good time trying to up the ante against Woo.

On the other hand, the Mariners appear to be well-positioned offensively against Andrew Heaney. They have hit well against left-handed pitchers recently, ranking in the top 10 in both xwOBA and OPS in September.

I'm confident the Mariners will do well on Sunday afternoon as they have the edge on the mound and their offense is in better shape.

Mariners Moneyline

Bryan Woo Less than 5.5 hits allowed

Julio Rodriguez Over 0.5 hits

I love the correlation between the Mariners' moneyline and Bryan Woo's hit prevention. The Mariners are as dependent on their starting pitcher as any other team in baseball. If they want to win, Woo will certainly contribute a lot to that.

Woo is as good as anyone when it comes to limiting goals, allowing 4.3 goals per game this season and conceding five or fewer in 17 of his 20 appearances.

Julio Rodriguez has stepped up his play in crunch time for the Mariners, having at least one hit in 16 of his last 20 games and has a .281 average against left-handed pitchers this season.
