Crash after Oktoberfest in Essen: Bus and car collide

Eat – Numerous people were injured yesterday evening when a bus and a car collided in Eat been injured.

According to an initial police report, there were 23 injured. The fire department reported that 14 people with injuries of varying severity were transported to Essen hospitals.

According to the fire department, around 60 people were affected by the serious accident. The police have launched an appeal for witnesses to determine the circumstances of the accident.

According to initial police investigations, the car and the shuttle bus carrying visitors to the RÜ Oktoberfest, which took place on the grounds of Essen/Mülheim Airport, collided at a traffic light intersection.

“One of the vehicles presumably drove through a red light,” said a spokeswoman. The 31-year-old bus driver was freed by the fire department and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the car (49) and his son (11), who was sitting in the passenger seat, were also taken to a hospital for treatment. No details were given about the extent of their injuries.

The police spoke of a somewhat confusing situation. The personal details of the people affected still had to be determined.

According to a spokeswoman, it is possible that some of the people affected by the accident were drawn further to the Oktoberfest before their personal details were established or that they may have reported to a hospital later.

Therefore, an appeal for witnesses was launched.
