Moment a man 'chokes' a cyclist and throws him off his bike in a shocking road rage attack

Police are investigating a shocking attack on a cyclist who was choked and thrown to the ground by an angry motorist in broad daylight.

Disturbing footage shows the gruesome attack that took place in Edinburgh's Old Town on Friday afternoon.

The video shows the 34-year-old cyclist standing in front of a white car on High School Wynd and talking to a passenger while the angry driver honks.

The man on the bicycle appeared to be having a heated argument with the woman, who was wearing a blue hoodie and grey sweatpants.

The male driver of the vehicle then angrily got out of his car and marched towards the cyclist.

After grabbing him by the neck, he threw him to the ground. These were shocking scenes in Edinburgh.

He then launched a terrible attack on the cyclist, grabbing him by the neck with both hands and throwing him to the ground.

The cyclist remained stretched out on the ground as the driver and passenger returned to the vehicle, which had a learner license plate attached to its windshield.

The man on the bicycle is seen holding his head after being thrown onto the street.

During the violent attack, parts of his bicycle also flew across the street.

Emergency services rushed to the cyclist's aid – and police confirmed that they are investigating the attack.

Investigators also confirmed that he was taken to the hospital to be examined for his injuries.

A Police Scottish spokesman said: “On Friday 20 September 2024, at around 6.25pm, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car at High School Wynd in Edinburgh.”

“The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital for assessment and officers are pursuing positive lines of inquiry in connection with the incident.”
