Coatbridge: Police search for sexually abused 14-year-old girl in woodland

A manhunt has been launched following the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Coatbridge.

The incident occurred at around 8pm on Friday, September 20, 2024, in a wooded area behind Miller Street, Police Scotland detectives said.

The man, who was unknown to the victim, is described as being about 6 feet tall and wearing red Adidas Gazelle sneakers.

Extensive investigations are currently underway to clarify the exact circumstances.

Detective Sergeant Alan Gardner said: “This was an extremely traumatic experience for the victim and it is vital that we identify and track down the man responsible.

“This happened close to a relatively busy area and we are asking anyone who has seen a man matching the above description or anything suspicious to please come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4299 of Friday 20 September 2024.”
