After the show is before the show

At the end, the audience could no longer stay in their seats and there were standing ovations for the Stadt. Land Klassik troupe. For around two hours, two female singers, three male singers, a narrator and the musicians of the Neue Philharmonie MV around “their” conductor Andreas Schulz told the Pasewalkers an exciting, thrilling and also educational story.

Three young people – two women and the boyfriend of one of them – were kidnapped and held captive by a rich and powerful man on a property in the desert. He was determined to make one of the two women (Constanze) submissive – but it just didn't work. And Bassa Selim was not going to use violence under any circumstances. After a turbulent rescue operation with all sorts of back and forth and a cunning plan including narcotic wine, the big showdown finally came, where it was a matter of life and death.

Timeless wisdom of the great ruler

Fortunately, thanks to the generosity of Bassa Selim (played by Lutz Schumacher), there was a happy ending. He released his captured guests instead of beheading them or letting them hang. Because, as the ruler said: “If you can't win someone over with good deeds, you have to get rid of them.”

The audience then bid the artists farewell on Friday, as the concert was the last performance of the singspiel “The Abduction from the Seraglio” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The tour will now continue in Baden-Württemberg.

What Disney can do, Stadt.Land.Klassik can do even more

But don't worry: Preparations for the upcoming Stadt.Land.Klassik tour are now in full swing. The artists will then perform Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker – a classic for the whole family, which also served as the basis for the Disney empire's film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” (with Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley and Morgan Freeman).
