Police investigate ‘attack’ of cyclist by motorist on busy Edinburgh road

Police have launched an investigation after a cyclist was attacked during an altercation with a motorist in Edinburgh's Old Town.

Video footage circulating on social media appears to show the man being thrown to the ground by a driver in front of a white car in Wynd High School.

According to police, the cyclist was taken to hospital for examination.

The incident occurred on Friday, September 20, at around 6:25 p.m.

A Police Scottish spokesman said: “On Friday 20 September 2024, at around 6.25pm, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car at High School Wynd in Edinburgh.

“The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital for assessment and officers are pursuing positive lines of inquiry in connection with the incident.”
