Tony Kabaka, a popular youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Edo State, has led a number of party members to organize protests in Benin, the state capital, against the conduct of Governor Godwin Obaseki in view of the results of the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state.

The governor wanted to monitor the vote counting process and address irregularities that had been noticed in some local government areas, including Oredo, where he had voted.

Why Obaseki was pushed out of INEC office

INEC officials, however, told Obaseki that he was not allowed to attend due to procedural guidelines. Despite this, the governor insisted on staying, resulting in a stalemate. Earlier, the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, was sent back, but Obaseki stood firm.

Tensions escalated when a combined team of policemen, soldiers and security agents led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Frank Mba arrived at the scene at about 3am. Mba, who had been assigned by the Inspector General of Police to oversee the election, escalated the governor from the premises.

Reacting to this development, the APC youth leader led some opposition supporters in the state to protest against the governor's actions and allegations. A video has also emerged showing the youths on the streets of Edo.
