Muslim 'healer' arrested for sexually abusing teenager in Uttar Pradesh | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: A Barabanki-based Muslim healer Was arrested on Friday for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl who had come to him asking for prayers for the recovery of her sick brother.
The incident came to light after the girl, a fifth-grade student, raised the alarm and informed her family.
Barabanki SP Dinesh Singh said, “The incident took place in a locality in Barabanki Nagar Kotwali area. Her elder brother had been ill for some time. Her father sent her to the healer's house on Friday night to ask him to pray for his recovery.”
However, when Habib Ahmad Razzaki (in his 40s) found the girl alone, he grabbed her hand and performed obscene acts on her, Singh said.
“The girl got scared and somehow managed to run away. She narrated the entire incident to her parents, who then informed the police,” he said.
The police arrived at the spot that night, took the girl's statement and searched the available video footage in which she was seen running away. The police registered a case of obscenity and harassment and arrested Razzaki.
During interrogation, it came to light that he claimed to be a Maulana and a healer.
Locals claimed that he had committed similar acts in the past, but no one came forward due to social stigma.
Additional SP Akhilesh Narayan Singh and CO (city) Sumit Tripathi said that a case has been registered on the father's complaint. They appealed to the people not to fall prey to such quacks and to seek proper treatment in case of illness.
