Yesterday, a tragic incident occurred in Mancha Khiri district of Khon Kaen when a Mandriven by jealousy, shot his ex-wifeher Motherand a young relative before taking his own life. The violent incident left his two-year-old daughter traumatized and shocked.

The shootings occurred at around 11.30am at a house in Khampom village, Tambon Phon Phek, said Pol Captain Phongphit Thanaphanpakdee, deputy chief of investigations at Mancha Khiri police station. The victims were found in a one-storey house, in front of which a Toyota with Nong Khai license plates was parked.

Inside the house, police and forensic experts discovered 50-year-old Jaruayporn Faengrit lying dead on a bed with two gunshot wounds. Her daughter, 28-year-old Khalita Faengrit, was found next to her with two gunshot wounds to the head.

Noppadol Unthasee, the ex-husband of 55-year-old Khalita, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his mouth. Phonphiphat Thongyot, an 18-year-old woman, was found in the bathroom, also with two gunshot wounds to the head.

A two-year-old girl, the daughter of Noppadol and Khalita, was found next to her mother's body, visibly shaking in shock. Officials immediately took her out of the house to ensure her safety.

Orn Faengrit, Khalita's 68-year-old grandmother, provided police with important details. She revealed that the house belonged to Yaowaluck, Phonphiphat's mother, who worked with her husband in Bangkok. Phonphiphat lived in the house while attending a local school.

Deadly shooting

Khalita, a younger sister of Yaowaluck, had a daughter with Noppadol, who lived in Nong Khai where he owned a resort on the Mekong. Khalita had two children from a previous marriage before marrying Noppadol.

“As far as I know, Miew (Khalita's nickname) was often physically attacked by her husband,” Orn said. “This prompted her to flee to her parents' home in Mancha Khiri. Noppadol kept persuading her to return. Later, she returned to stay with him. But the domestic violence repeated itself three or four times.”

Khalita eventually broke up with Noppadol and moved into her older sister's house with her daughter. Yesterday morning, Noppadol came to the house to reconcile again, but Khalita refused. The refusal led to an argument that quickly escalated into gunfire, according to Orn.

Phonphiphat managed to send a desperate message to his mother in Bangkok, saying: “Pak Boy (Noppadol) killed all the people.” His mother tried to contact him but received no response. She later learned that he had been shot.

Amporn Chaokudrang, a 56-year-old neighbor, reported hearing eight gunshots in about 10 minutes. She was skeptical at first, but her son convinced her that they were indeed gunshots, and she alerted the village chief.

Pol Col Pichai Nakhandee, chief of Mancha Khiri police, noted that witnesses confirmed the couple had separated about a year ago, with Noppadol making frequent attempts to reconcile before the tragedy. Initial investigations suggest Noppadol was driven by jealousy after learning his ex-wife had started a new romantic relationship, the Bangkok Post reported.

When Noppadol's car was searched, drug paraphernalia was found inside. His body was brought back to Nong Khai by his relatives for religious ceremonies in the late afternoon.
