Udaipur: Knife attack triggers tension in Udaipur | News from Udaipur

Udaipur: MB Hospital Premises in the city remained tense on Friday due to a stabbing incident in Surajpole Late Thursday evening, people entered the police station area, prompting police to resort to mild baton use to disperse the crowd.
The family of stabbing victim Shoeb, a resident of Helawadi, and numerous people from his community created a commotion at the hospital.Shoeb was rushed to MB Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the shoulder by a man with a knife. Chetan Singh Panwara resident of Raoji Ka Hata, on Thursday around 10 pm, police said. Panwar was riding his motorcycle from Kalaji-Goraji to Gulaab Bagh when Shoeb came at high speed on his motorcycle and crossed the road in front of Chetan. The two youths got into an argument over this and Chetan attacked Shoeb with a knife, a police official said. Some passersby took the bleeding Shoeb, who had the knife stuck in his shoulder, to the hospital.
“Though Panwar fled immediately after the attack on Shoeb, he was arrested late in the night. Shoeb underwent surgery to remove the knife from his shoulder. His condition is said to be out of danger,” a police official said.
During the night, a large crowd gathered outside the hospital, shouting slogans and protesting against the attack. The matter was resolved only when a police team persuaded them to maintain peace later in the night. The protesters demanded that the accused's house be demolished and a member of his family be given a government job. The protesters repeated this demand on Friday as well.
After the police dispersed the crowd and spoke to Shoeb's family, some members of the community went to the Hathipole area and pelted shops with stones, breaking the windows of some shops.
On Friday, members of the Khateek community staged a protest outside the district administration, alleging that a temple and shops belonging to their community were pelted with stones. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits who did this. The protest ended after Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal addressed the crowd and assured immediate action.
