Two auto rickshaw drivers arrested for assault near the main railway station

Periamet police have arrested two autorickshaw drivers who attacked each other over a dispute while ferrying customers near the Central Railway Station.

According to police, one G. Mani of Pallavan Salai was an auto driver for a living. On Friday evening, he was waiting for customers in his car near the Central Railway Station. Two other auto drivers – Praveen and Murali – started a fight with him for picking up customers. The duo attacked him with wooden blocks and Mani, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Based on a complaint, police arrested S. Praveen, 29, of Puliyanthoppu and M. Murali, 49, of Pallavan Salai.
