“The Old Man” is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry. It centers on retired CIA agent Dan Chase, played by Oscar winner Jeff Bridges (“The Big Lebowski,” “True Grit”). One day, a professional killer ambushes him, but his old instincts allow him to ignore him. Now Chase must come to terms with his past if he wants to have a future.

What is the second season of the series “The Old Man” about?

Lead actor Bridges revealed that the new season picks up just a few weeks after the last season finale and that the stakes are raised, because former Deputy FBI Director Harold Harper (John Lithgow) is also after Angela, or rather Emily (Alia Shawkat), who is the old warhorse's daughter.

In Season 2 of the FX series “The Old Man,” former CIA agent Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) and former FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper (John Lithgow) embark on their most important mission yet: to retrieve Emily Chase (Alia Shawkat) after she is kidnapped by Faraz Hamzad (Navid Negahban), a powerful Afghan tribal leader. With all three men claiming her as their daughter, Emily faces an identity crisis that has dire consequences.

As Chase and Harper fight their way to Emily, Hamzad is forced to make decisions that could jeopardize his family and the village he has spent a lifetime loyally leading. Khadija (Jacqueline Antaramian), Hamzad's sister and trusted advisor, is concerned about the path her brother has taken and what it will cost her. As the stakes get higher and more secrets are revealed, Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman) makes surprising moves after being drawn into a new world by Chase. Meanwhile, Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is disillusioned with his former role and finds himself at a crossroads he did not expect.

Bridges explained: “We travel all over the world this time, including Hong Kong, England and Afghanistan.” Executive producer Warren Littlefield added: “It's a father's job to get his daughter to safety.”
