At least 50 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.

At least 37 people were killed in an attack on the Lebanese capital Beirut on Friday, including three children and seven women, said the country's health minister, Firas Abiad.

Fifteen of the 68 people injured in the attack are still in hospital.

Ali Harake, the head of the rescue team searching the rubble, told Sky News his team was still looking for 17 to 18 missing people – but he feared no one had survived.

On Saturday evening, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Israel had launched further “extensive” attacks in southern Lebanon, with “dozens” of aircraft and rocket launchers attacking “terrorist targets.”

He said this was due to the “detection of Hezbollah preparation to shell Israeli territory.”
