Two dead and three injured after shooting in downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – A shooting in downtown Minneapolis early Saturday morning left two people dead, two teenagers injured and three others wounded.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, police received a call about shots fired. Arriving officers found five injured people – two men aged 20 and 21, two girls aged 16 and 17, and a 21-year-old woman.

Both men died in hospital. Police said the injuries to the others were not believed to be life-threatening.

According to police, a fight between several people sparked the shooting. One person was arrested on suspicion of inciting a riot.

According to WCCO-TV, police will increase patrols downtown in conjunction with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Metro Transit Police and a citizens' group, said Deputy Police Chief Katie Blackwell.
