Delhi Police have arrested five youths in connection with the murder of a teenager and injuring another during a violent clash between rival gangs in Sangam Vihar. The incident followed a violent clash between two rival gangs that took place on Sunday Bazaar Road around 6 pm on Friday night.

According to authorities, a youth was stabbed over a dozen times in the encounter. The victim died at the scene, while another victim managed to escape despite injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Paweriya said, “On investigation, it emerged that the murder was the result of a rivalry between two local gangs led by Islam and Hari Kishan, both adults.”

The victims are said to be linked to Islam, a local criminal with a history of numerous crimes including attempted murder, robbery and violations of the Arms Act. Islam is still at large. The arrested youths are linked to Hari Kishan, who is currently in jail for murder. The accused were arrested by the Crime Branch teams.

Paweriya noted that both gangs are competing for control in the area. He added that three knives used in the attack were recovered from the suspects and investigations are ongoing.
