Police identify woman killed, suspect charged in New Bedford stabbing

A 31-year-old Dartmouth man will be charged with murder Saturday in the fatal stabbing of 31-year-old Kerri Fidalgo in New Bedford on Friday, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said.

Tyler Dow Baglini was taken into custody shortly after the incident Friday and was held overnight at Saint Luke's Hospital for psychiatric evaluation, the law firm said in a news release. Baglini will be arraigned on murder charges in New Bedford District Court on Monday morning.

Police responded to the 911 call at around 4:52 p.m. Friday from 86 Atlantic Street and found Fidalgo in her apartment “suffering from apparent stab wounds,” according to a statement from Quinn.

She was taken to Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where she was later pronounced dead.
