While Muhney did not confirm the rumors, he did hint in an interview with the Huffington Post that Braeden played a role in co-star Maura West's firing from the show. Shortly after Muhney accused Braeden of playing a role in West's firing, Braeden tweeted: “To suggest I had anything to do with West's departure is slanderous!” He added: “Of course I'm upset. Wouldn't you be upset if some slimebag made statements that were not in the least bit true?”

Maura West also denied her co-star Michael Muhney's claim that Braeden was behind her firing from The Young and the Restless. “Absolutely NOT. In any way. I have no idea why my name is attached to this,” she said.
