Gary Speed's widow Louise finds love with a millionaire after the tragic death of her second partner | Football | Sport

Two years after the death of her second husband, Gary Speed's widow Louise has found love again: a wealthy property developer. She and her new boyfriend Andrew Dickens have also founded a property development company together.

Louise's life was turned upside down in 2011 when she found the body of her first husband, Premier League legend and former Welsh manager Gary Speed, in the garage of their Cheshire home. The pair had been together since childhood and had two sons together, Eddie and Tommy.

She remarried in 2021, but her second husband, Quinton Bird, also a real estate developer, tragically died of an aggressive brain tumor just six months after the ceremony.

Louise's relatives are delighted that she now has a new partner, Andrew, with whom she lives in North Wales.

“Louise and Andrew have been together for a while now,” a family member told the Daily Mail. “She has moved to Wales to be with him. They are currently holidaying together in the South of France. They are a wonderful couple.”

Andrew himself added: “Funny enough, we come from the same small village in North Wales and lived only a few hundred yards away from each other. It's only in the last few years that we've become good friends.”

Louise previously admitted that after the death of her first husband Gary, she went through periods where she “found it difficult to get up from the sofa”. “It was like the worst nightmare ever,” she explained.

“There were no answers and Gary never came through the door again. Nothing was ever going to be right again. I was just trudging through life and just functioning. If I could have been anyone other than myself for a long time, I would have gladly taken it.”

Only five players have made more Premier League appearances than Speed, who played for Leeds United, Everton, Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United before retiring in 2010.

Speed later took over the Welsh national team. His last game as manager came just two weeks before his death. New Wales manager Craig Bellamy is sure his legacy will live on in football.

“I always wonder how he would have done certain things,” he said. “I hope the players feel the way I felt when he first took over. That feeling of 'we're going to do something here,' because that's how I honestly felt. I hope they understand that, and I hope I was able to pass on some of the messages he was able to convey to us as a group.”
